For Sale: 1972 Ome XX Extra Long Neck Banjo: The first Ome Long Neck
This is a well preserved and historically interesting instrument from one of the most respected names in banjos from the past five decades. According to some screenshots I found here on Banjohangout of the old Ome website, this banjo, only the 85th one to bear the Ome moniker, was the first extra long neck that left their Boulder, Colorado shop.
This banjo has barely been played. All the nickel hardware shows only slight signs of age and the frets have nearly no discernible wear. Theres a couple dings in the finish, but overall this is a nearly new condition example.
The neck is mahogany, the peghead overlay and fretboard are rosewood, and the rim appears to be constructed of multi ply maple.
The tonering is typical of Omes of that era, and seems to be influenced by the tonerings found on Bacon and Day Silver Bells.
Comes shipped in a Gold Tone Gigbag.
I did my research to try and learn about this banjo the best I could, but am far from an expert on Ome products so please reach out if you feel I have described anything erroneously.
Thanks for looking and feel free to reach out with any questions.
